For Ukraine, total deposits in November 2008 increased by 2.4% (from the beginning of the year grew by 21%) - up to 338.9 bln, according to the National Bank of Ukraine.
Citizen’s deposits in foreign currencies in November in US dollar terms increased by 0.2 billion dollars, thus in Ukrainian hryvnia (including as a result of the revaluation of foreign exchange deposits) - at 15.3 bln UAH.
Foreign exchange deposits revaluation affected the dynamics of the total deposits of the population, which in November rose by 5.5% - to 206.7 bln UAH (an increase from the beginning of the year at 25.7%).
Deposits of legal entities in November decreased by 2.1% (from the beginning of the year - increase of 14.2%) - up to 132.1 bln. This was primarily due to the reduction of deposits in national currency, which had occurred due to the quarterly tax payments.
The volume of cash outside the banks in November decreased by 3.4% - to 141.3 bln UAH (an increase from the beginning of the year at 27.2%), which had been largely predetermined by the population activeness in the cash currency market. The former has as well influenced the dynamics of the cash amounts, which in November fell to 29.2% compared to 30.4% at the beginning of the month.
Under such conditions, the rate of expansion of money supply in November was moderate - an increase of 0.4% over the month and by 22% since the beginning of the year - up to 483.2 bln. The annual indicator (calculated relatively to the same month of previous year) of increase of the money supply has decreased to 32.2% in November, compared to 35.2% in October.
